The brief requested the renovation of a lean-to bothy that joins a family house. The replacement of a currently tin garage in the nearby garden was to be incorporated into the design.

The pair of buildings will include room for a Land Rover, storage for bikes and garden tools, gym equipment and laundry services. The possibility for the connection of the garage to the home and the option of a conservatory were also explored. The existing corridor alongside the house and the bothy gave the line of circulation; a dog leg, opening at a gym area leading to a conservatory along the length of the garage. The garage aesthetic will mirror the traditional Aberdeenshire cottage, a pitched roof with a lean-to.
